to Ron

Forgot to congratulate you...do they have steroids in the food in Budapest?

:o)

Tynee Terror's Week 3, Day 2

Didn't do push-ups for three days. Then i went out and drank and had a really greasy slice of pizza. Then I did my push-ups in my underwear so that it'd be less weight.

27-21-21-18-42

Week 5 and Week 6 start

So I have it written down somewhere at home but I got through Week 5 fine, each time hitting a max of about 60-65 at the end of everyday. Then took a few days off and tried the exhaustion test for Week 6. Man, I went from 80 last week to only 63 this week and I was really struggling. Just like I discovered before, I shouldn't take too long a break in between, so back on track... for now.

Either way, I made enough to move on to the third column for Week 6 and am finding out this is really getting tough. Just yesterday I had to do 56-45-42-40 then hit a max of only 34! Dang, that's a low max! After looking back I realized I did do quite a few pushups total: 214. So I shouldn't feel too bad, considering in Week 1 Day 1 I had only done a total of 61 and THAT was tough then.

So back to Week 6, scared of day 2. I'm supposed to do 30-30-25-25-25-25-22-22 plus max out afterward! Dang. Wish me luck. I'm sure I'm going to go through Week 6 again. Good thing we have a month left.

week 4, day 2

first of all, congrats roncarlo! first to reach a hundred, though it's only your word against the world's ;-)

i just finished my sets: 27, 21, 21, 18, 70.

steadily making progress, but looking forward to the exhaustion test at the end of the week.

keep on keepin' on, people!

exhaustion test

so i decided to skip the last day of wk 4 and just do my exhaustion test....

100 good form pushups BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i didn't have any video camera to document the feat, but i'll be sure to duplicate it come august.

felt really good...didn't start to struggle until i reached 80....stopped to focus and then had a harder time with the last 10. in anycase, i hope this will motivate you guys and girls to push your max higher. enjoy. :D

Week 4, Day 1

Not the smartest thing to do push-ups at 2:00 am, after a really exhausting day, but I won't have time tomorrow since I'll be in SF for work.

Week 3, Day 3

30-22-22-20-42

Now I've got a headache...but off to the gym.

Have a great weekend!

week 4, day 1

27, 20, 20, 17, 60... as i huff and puff.

Dude....

Seriously, I'm kinda frustrated with my progress....or lack of.  So far, this is how's it's been:
Week3, day3: 25-19-19-17-30
Week4, day1: 22-16-16-14-35; day2: 22-17-17-15-30; day3: 25-19-19-17-35

Ok, really, I can't seem to get pass 35. What the F? And I can't believe it's week 5 soon. Hmmm, I'm thinking I need to repeat week 4?

Thursday, July 24, 2008

wk 4/day 2

ran with some pain in my right IT band, but I still ran 1.66 miles. followed that up with some good fun push ups, just because... :D

27-21-21-18-75

...so this brings me to football practice...the coaches decided i was too short to play WR, but felt my speed and agility would be perfect for a RB. i've never played or had an interest to play the RB position but apparently they liked it and feel i'd be really good at it.

anyways, during practice i got hit on my right thigh and now i'm in serious pain....OUCH!!! in any case, i should be fine by next week. enjoy.

week 3, day 3 (finally!)

although it took almost 2 weeks to complete week 3, i've finally done it.

30, 22, 22, 20, 60.

i feel a lot better about this showing than the last. looks like the ingestion was an anomoly... good times!

MON DIEU!

"OH MY GOD!" I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO freakin' tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiired. Had a long day of work until 15 minutes ago. Exhausted. Absolutely exhausted. But sometimes I think I do better when I'm super stressed. I seem to get all of that energy out into my push-ups.

Week 3, Day 2 - 27-19-19-15-41

Nite, all.

wk 4/day 1

felt kinda sick today but managed to do my pushups...

27-20-20-17-40

i intentionally stopped at 40 b/c i was also feeling lazy...i'll get my strength back soon.

Week 4 end and new max

Been busy with work and playing pretend single dad as Nico's mom spent last Saturday with her lady friends at a bachelorette day/night out. So I was carrying around a 17lb. baby boy, who fighting the irritations of excema (or exzcema, depending on who's checking) for most of Saturday. I might have missed my pushups but my arms were getting a workout. But I "digest." Latest stats:

End of Week 4: 30-22-22-20, then maxed the 5th set at 64

Before the start of Week 5, another exhaustion test and I hit 80! Woo-friggin'-hoo!

I guess I'm back on track... for now. I'm starting Week 5 off schedule (or sheh-deeool as my peeps in England pronounce it) but at least I'm starting it much stronger than last week. I'll try to get a run in tomorrow. For now it's time to relax and catch Conan O'Brien.

Monday, July 21, 2008

week 3, day 2

25, 19, 19, 15, 35... ok, i'm digressing... or is it regressing. tynee? any thoughts? ;-)

*HUFF PUFF*

Good god, these push-ups are getting harder.

Exhaustion test - 42 (not as high as I wanted, but at least I did 12 better than the initial test, and my arms aren't bigger than my waist...yet). Would've done this in my bikini at the sundeck and taken photos to post on this blog but wasn't thinking. Sorry, boys...and girls. You don't think about these things when you aint gettin' paid. HA! ;op

Week 3, Day 1 - 25-17-17-15-30

Now I'm off to the gym for the rest of my upper body workout...before i cook and pig out on dindin.

hope everyone is doing well and staying cool!!!!

Sunday, July 20, 2008

wk 3/day 3

finished running 1.43 miles and doing my pushups....tired from the wknd b/c a friend came to visit and we were out late. anyways, here it is...

30-22-22-20-70=164

i think i'm ready for another exhaustion test and this time, i know i can push it closer to 100. :D

keep it up everyone...it's not that bad. ;)

Week 2, Day 3

15-15-12-12-33

Don't think I should've done drunk push-ups on the nyc sidewalk last night with my friend Jevaun who is also doing the push-up challenge on his own. See Exhibit A and B.

week 3...day2

Didn't get to run today so I'm determined to do it tomorrow-hopefully at least 3 miles. Push up count: 22-17-17-15-40. Can you say shaken arm syndrome?!

Out of commission this week

I'm probably not going to be able to do any this week. I was out in the rain w/o an umbrella and got sick the following day. Tried to do push-ups but was only able to manage 15. Hopefully next week i'll be able to continue week 3 at 100%.

Week 4 Day 2 and heads up

So, I'm finally getting my max back up but the program's just getting tougher. Just a heads up, Weeks 5 and 6 have more sets than we are used to. For those following the program, everyday we have 5 sets to do, 4 prescribed and the last one we max out on. The last two days of Weeks 5 and 6 have 8 and 9 sets respectively. YIKES! Here are my stats for Week 4 Day 2:

27-21-21-18 5th set maxed at 61

Going to try to get a run in today and do some extra pushups, got to get to 100! Holla back y'all.

Love,
Da 'Nocerous

week 3, day 1

25, 17, 17, 15, 45... this is freakin' exhausting!

Wednesday, July 16, 2008

Week 2, Day 2

16-13-11-11-35 *HUFF PUFF*
ran 1.21 miles in 11:05, then did my pushups. felt a little better, although i did pull my right quad yesterday doing sprints. anyways...

27-19-19-15-65=145

trying to get that max back up.

It's getting harder (That's what she said)

Okay so Week 3 ended a few days ago for me and just started Week 4 yesterday. Man, my max at the end of Day 1 of Week 4 dropped dramatically, the amount of reps for each set has even dropped a bit. I had a day of rest yesterday and will be doing day 2 tonight for this week, I'm crossing my fingers that my max will go back up. Maybe it was that stupid rest for the weekend. That week I had to play catch up, I did a lot more going every day....(thinking) I'm doing pushups everyday-ish. Here are the stats:

Week 3 Day 3: 30-22-22-20, 5th set max 64. Then, went for a 6 mile run, it took about an hour and five mins, minus a few because of traffic lights.
Week 4 Day 1: 27-20-20-17, 5th set max 50.

Week3...Day1

Worked ALL weekend so I didn't get a chance to work out at all. Then I had to entertain some out-of-town guests on Monday so I took them to the beaches in La Jolla-which were gorgeous-and stayed out all night for dinner and drinks. So my Monday workout was bumped to Tuesday. By that time, I was exhausted. Maybe it's the heat. Who knows, but I was only able to run almost 3 miles. I still made sure to do other exercise, like lunges, squats, abs, and those damn pushups =) 20-15-15-12-35.  I'm sure I'll feel it tomorrow. Right now, I'm so tired and sleepy. Good night ya'll!

Monday, July 14, 2008

Week 2, Day 1

BLAH! I don't feel any improvement. This time I'm going to blame it on the benadryl i took last night. ha. Anyway, 12-12-9-7-31. Yikers.

wk 3/day 1

so after my exhaustion test, i was kinda bummed. i really thought i could get to 100 by now. anyways, today made up for it...ran 3.25 miles in 30:35 (~9:24 pace). then i did my pushups:

25-17-17-15-50=124

i'll bounce back

need a lot more work

woke up early and hit the track for some interval training, then came home and did the exhaustion test... for a grand total of 50 pushups. wtf! haha, very humbling indeed.

playoff update: we lost by 2 points when i missed a potentially game-winning 3 pointer. damnit!

Sunday, July 13, 2008

need a little more work

just did my exhaustion test and i'll have to say, it certainly lives up to its name...

80 good form pushups, w/ a rest or two in between

i felt more tired today then yesterday for some reason. anyways, i still got a lot of work to do.

very humbling.

2nd Week Exhaustion Test

I just finished doing my exhaustion test today because I didn't want my Monday exercise to get affected.

I was able to do only 50 solid ones. I started off fast just to get a lot out of the way. I definitely couldn't do anymore and I already started struggling at 40. But I'm happy with my progress. I expect by the next exhaustion test I'll hit 70.

Saturday, July 12, 2008

week 2, days 2 & 3

day 2: 16, 13, 11, 11, 65

day 3: 15, 15, 12, 12, 45

so i've completed my first week of interval training, waking up early and heading to the track for some hi/lo-intensity running, doing my pushups on the days in between. following in jaybroni's footsteps, i decided to do day 3's pushups super slow, with a hard stop at the top of each rep. man that made a big difference in my max (could also be the lack of sleep and the alcohol consumed merely hours earlier!), but i think he's right in that it'll help out during the exhaustion test. good call, jaybroni!

as far as progress goes, i'd been steadily increasing my max with each day (aside from the last day when i did the slow pushups), and i'm already noticing a difference in my upper body, as my a-cups are filling out quite nicely thank you very much. i got my basketball playoffs starting tomorrow, so we'll see if all this training pays dividends on the court as well :-)

Friday, July 11, 2008

Week 2, Day 3

Having a hard time attaining a new max. Did 15-15-12-12-22 in the pouring rain. Not sure why there are days I struggle to make 20. Maybe because I do them really really slow. I'll know for sure if that really helps when I do my exhaustion test this weekend.

My goal is to break 60.

update - I'm reposting the current poll AFTER everyone does the exhaustion test after week 2. I hope everyone will have done that by then.

Too Tired

Crikey! I have to stop doing my push-ups when I'm exhausted. Got 3 hrs of sleep last night.

week one, day 3: 15-15-12-12-28

NOT GOOD!!!!!!!!!!
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
ran 2.72 miles in blistering heat then did my push ups

15-15-12-12-71=125

haven't done my exhaustion test yet...will wait until sunday.

have a good weekend kids.

Week 3 Day 1,2

Long time no post. I've been slammed at work and just have enough energy to do my pushups and put in a run. After that, I have to spend time with my little 3-month-old. He's growing too fast and I'd hate to miss any of it. Here are my stats for Week 3 so far, still on the third column:

Week 3 Day 1: 25-17-17-15, 5th set max 56
Week 3 Day 2: 27-19-19-15, 5th set max 58

My max isn't going up as quickly as Weeks 1-2 but the first four sets are getting much more intense.

Joel, where you at? We voted you in and you're just lurking. I remember you said you'll wait until after basketball season to end. You have three seasons a year. Let's see Ron's training in football twice a week, Milhouse and Luxelogic are both training for 10ks, Kat's always training. I put in a run about twice a week and carry around a 16.6lb baby for about 2-3 hours total a day. C'mon, just about 10-15 minutes a day for three days a week. I've seen them guns and know you can do it. (Everyone) JOEL...JOEL...JOEL...JOEL!

Hope you find this motivating, plus this blog could use your wit. Even if it's at your own pace, as long as you're progressing, get in this... c'mon all the cool kids are doing it. "I learned it by watching you!" Or maybe this video (not a Rick Roll) of Jack Lalanne doing pushups at the age of 60 can get you going.

Final Test Weeks

After looking over the poll on the right, I've decided to screw you all and make the test for Week 1 of August. =)

We'll set the dates for the last two weeks of August.

What does that mean?
It means from Aug 17 - Aug 30 11:59 PST you HAVE to submit a video through the Upload video button when creating a new post or youtube.

What if I don't have a video submitted between those dates?
You will lose the $100 dollars which will be split among those that have completed the 100 pushups.

What should be in the video?
a front or side view of you preferably on the same level from the ground as you are. You'll also need a third party to say each push-up out loud. The video must be continuous if at any point it cuts to another scene, you lose.

What if I don't have a camera?
Borrow from someone. No excuses. Either you have a video or not.

We're still waiting on fliptree to post his stuff. He's a bit shy so why don't we trash talk... i mean cheer him on!!!

wk 2/day 2

well, i missed yesterday b/c i was on a sail boat...so here it is

16-13-11-11-70=121

plus i ran my usual mile+

time to tan and swim...

I just can't do it... or can I?

did 12-12-9-7 then a max of 27 for a total of 67. I guess it was my high intensive interval training that got me tired the last time... or was it something else?

I wanted to do it before I left so that I look more like Mario Lopez, only the hottest guy alive since . I think these Tahitians know what "hot stuff" really looks like when it's written across my shirt.

Friday I'm shooting for a max of 35.

Pathetic

So I started out really well on monday: 12-12-9-7-25. Tuesday was still good cause I  did my weekly long run by running for 6 miles. Then I made my friend do some lunges (my favorite!) and tricep dips with me. She hated me after that, but then she got me back my making me do some ab work. In the end, I didn't really mind it. Did some bicep curls and shoulder lifts and called it a day. And then...wednesday morning came. Did my push-ups: 16-13-11-11-20. Crap! Maybe I shouldn't have done it so early in the morning when I was super tired & sleepy. But hey, No excuses right. So, I'm disappointed in myself. But I hope to make it up by Friday.

Unleashing the Pawaah

I got 5 hours of sleep last night; I normally need 10. Needless to say, I was exhausted today. And then, on top of that, work made me really, really angry. I mean, REALLY angry. I wanted to punch a wall. I wanted to hurt some people. Luckily, I'm not THAT crazy. I kept my composure in the office, and haven't punched anything or anyone...yet. Instead, I went to the gym for 1.5 hours.

Today was Day 2 of the challenge. I started off with my usual 20 minutes cardio, except I stepped up the level a few notches. It felt GOOD. Then I stretched and did my push-ups. 12-12-10-10-22. I have no idea if that's good or bad, but I do know that my arms felt dead after that. When I got to the final set of seeing the max I could do, I tried what the 100 push-ups guy suggests for the final test:
"
Take your time, don't rush and focus on performing ten push ups at a time. Breaking the magic hundred into smaller chunks will make the goal more achievable and give you more chance of success." Um, that totally did NOT work for me. I felt discouraged counting back to 1, and it slowed me down. What's that say about me?

After the push-ups, I did a full body workout since I can't workout tomorrow - lats, shoulders, abs, thighs, glutes, biceps, triceps, back, calves (I may not be able to get out of bed tomorrow and especially on Friday.)...I hope my strength training won't make me look like Ms. Olympia. Imagining Arnold Schwarzenegger saying "UNLEEASH THE PAWAAAH!!" now not only makes me laugh but also sorta scares me.* HA!

*The Gov. is speaking at my conference in October, and the theme of the conference is "Unleash the Power. So my colleagues and I keep imagining him saying that."

week 2, day 1

started the week yesterday day with 20 minutes of interval training at the local high school track, thus beginning my new weekly routine of interval training on mondays and wednesdays, and pushups on tuesdays, thursdays and saturdays. got to the track at 6:40am, and there were already a bunch of people young and old out there walking/running/jogging. it's so early people! whytf are you up!?!? anyways, it was a great workout. i could feel the fat burn immediately. good times baby!

12, 12, 9, 9, 60.

btw, i like how this blog/group grew from just a pushups-challenge crew to an overall fitness crew. sweet.

Week 2, Day 1

Started off bad this week. Only did 12-12-9-7 and a max of 12. I don't know why I had a hard time. Maybe it was the two day break I had.

Also did some interval running. Jogged about 2 mins then ran really fast (or fast jog) for 1 min.. Did that for a total of 3 mins. Then did ab crunches.

Now i just finished eating tempura shrimp. I feel healthy already.

tynee terror is here!

But ya'll don't have to worry because I'm not joining in on the bet. I don't want to embarass anyone and take anyone's money. ha! Just here to blog and have fun.

So I'm home sick with a bad stomach virus, but somehow I got a boatload of motivation and energy in the past two hours. Took advantage of it and did my initial test and day one of the challenge.

Intitial Test - 30
Day 1 - 10-10-8-6-21

Not bad for a 5' 0.75", 10# pound woman, eh? ;op If I actually do the 100 pushups, I'm going to treat myself to all the ramen in the world. Mmm mm goood. Good luck to everyone who's in on the bet!

Week 2 end and new max

Okay so these last few days have been tough. I've messed with my rhythm last week by starting on a Tuesday, then missed a couple of days and played catch-up over the weekend to get back on track. So I've been doing pushups consecutively since Friday and will do more tonight. That all said. Week 2 down at: 15-15-12-12-54. Then yesterday I did the test to see where I'd start for week 3, I got up to 60 with a couple of breaks but, again, without my knees touching the ground. Dang this is getting harder... "that's what she said." Not doing as much as Senor Roncarlo but shit, I've made some strides from my initial test (27) before Week 1.

P.S. Where's my pic on my posts? I already covered my face so no one would be offended, dang, my grill that ugly too? <-- This question is not a poll but it can be. Is The Rhymenocerous' grill ugly? Yes or no.

End of Week 1

Survived week 1! 15-13-10-10-20. I decided to push myself to do 20 and holy schnikeees! Doing 20 was rough so doing 100 seems impossible. Not that I'm giving up. I want that $100!
Just got home from working out: ran for 2.5 miles, went on the stairclimber, did some free weights. I know it's supposed to be "rest day" but to me, that means resting from doing push-ups, not from running and lifting weights, as long as I'm working on different muscle groups. Is that so wrong? I guess this week was different cause I only worked one day this week so I was able to use my free time to run and hit the gym. Once I start working my regular schedule,  I may be only able to work out a few times(?).  But I will be sure to make time for my long runs once a week.
I know some of you are training for a 10k in August. There is another 10k in September at Balboa Park for the AIDS Walk/Run in case anyone is interested.  I plan on training for that one.

Are we still looking at August 31 as the final date? The only problem I have is that I will be on an airplane the entire day. I won't get into San Diego until 10 pm. Does anyone have a problem with me doing the push-ups the next day? Any suggestions?

Week 2 Day 2

Okay, like I said, haven't put in a run in a while and just finally recovered from being sore from that last run. So no running yet, might put one in tomorrow. But I didn't do too bad considering it's the 4th of July. Did the prescribed four sets then maxed out on the fifth set at 56, this time my arms were shaking, I think I'm going to deduct one and say I did 55. That last one was janky.

Friday, July 04, 2008

Week 1, Day 3

Just finished 15,13,10,10 max of 25. I felt heavier this time. Maybe because I did it right after taking an hour nap. Or maybe from the increased muscle size of my upper body that are weighing me down.

Probably going to the outdoor food court area to eat steak and fries with bbq sauce and garlic butter. MMMmmmmm bbq sauce...

week 1/ day 3

ok, ran 4.5 miles this morning at the beach, then came home and did my sets... 15, 13, 10, 10, 55. so effin' tiring, but i'm determined! happy 4th of july y'all!

art, kat, where you at!?

Happy Independence Day!

Just want to wish everyone a happy and safe 4th of July! Don't eat a lot of bbq and for those of you on a MWF schedule, don't forget to do your push-ups BEFORE you eat.

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!

wk 1/day 3

i feel much better...yesterdays football practice was brutal. we did sprints over and over and if you didn't finish first, which i didn't, you had to do 10 push ups...i did about 8 sets after full sprints....

but today was good. ran 1.17 miles in 10:09, (nice, easy pace) then did 15-13-10-10-52. feeling good!

i'm off to lake balaton now. enjoy!

Off Day

Ran a few laps (walked more) around the track then finished with some crunches. It probably doesn't help that i'm eating tempura with beef but it felt good to do them anyways. I just need to keep doing that while or after I do my push-ups.

Thursday, July 03, 2008

Week 1, Day 2 and New Participant

Just did 12,12,10,10, max 20. I feel like I'm making light progress since I'm up to 64. I wasn't able to run but I did some swimming strokes for about 30 minutes. I probably shouldn't have since I was already going to work on my arms for my push-ups.

My pecs and arms have gotten a tiny bit stiffer and this is before my workout. I'll have to do more abs and back to round out my upper half.

In other news, I shaved my head again to increase the air flow on the way down and up. Less drag, more reps.

Also, we have another push-upper but this time it's a non-participant which means he's it in it for the motivation but not in it to win any money unless he changes his mind within the next week.

'Til then, give it up for fliptreej!

How to lose belly fat

Just wanted to pass this article along to the rest of you. BTW, this is the ONLY article on the internet that shows you how to lose belly fat. =)

Read "How to Lose Belly Fat"

wk 1/day 2

here's motivation for you...

12-12-10-10-56 = 100.

i know my money is safe :D

plus 1.36 miles in slippers....things i do to continue my streak. ah...time to have a beer.

Motivated!

We have to give it up to Jaybroni for putting up this bet and site. I'm super motivated (see how long this will last). Besides the pushups, reading about everyone's running made me put the running shoes back on yesterday. I haven't put in a good jog/run in over a month but it felt great. To give back, I'm also going to log my run distance and time, hope this helps Milhouse and Luxelogic with their training to 10k. Sounds fun by the way. If I didn't have the little time I do to spend with my 3-month-old I would train for one too. So for now, thank you Jaybroni and all for keeping this old man going.

Week 2 Day 1:
Started with the third column. So 12-12-9-7, then maxed out at 54. I actually did 31 straight, then did two 10 second rest without my knees dropping until I got to 54. Next, I went for a 3.2 mile jog (no not a run) around the neighborhood in about 34 mins.

Keep on keepin' on y'all. Maybe the next bet should be us all meeting at a marathon or an Iron Man and who ever finishes first between us gets the cash. Wait, a silly fun one, remember those old silly Presidential Fitness Tests in school? Let's find one of those and max out on all of them in one day with a point system. Okay, I'm just going on too many tangents and I'm getting tired just thinking about the training. Nap time.

P.S. I'm sure you know I'm joking about the Iron Man, a co-worker of mine said her friend trained almost 40 hours a week for I think a year to prepare for his, CA-RAZAY!

week 1, day 2

12, 12, 10, 10, 50... and i'm spent.

Week 1, Day 1

Ran 2 km, wrote a song, then did 10,10,8,6 and a max of 15. This one was actually tough even though I'm redoing the first week. I guess I gained more pounds or something. Or maybe the running exhausted me.

I think next time I'll reverse my workout by doing push-ups first then running afterwards.

Now I is tired and sleepy. Tomorrow I'm going to do some abs workouts to balance my growing pectorals.
