One hundred and three-ish
Sorry for falling off the map for a while but my shoulder took a couple of weeks to get better, then a few days of easing back into it to finally get here. So here's my video. I added a few extra pushups for good measure. My arms are floppy and the my little boy you can kind of hear in the background needs to be carried (wish me luck). I can't lie, hearing him playing and laughing helped me a bit.
Hope you guys are all doing well. Can't wait to see the rest of the videos.
P.S. Preemptive strike – Don't be hatin' on my short-short house-shorts. Y'all know you want cut up pasty-white thighs like mine.

Final Test Reminder
I personally will wait until the very last day because I'm still on week 4. But if you're ready, do it now and get it over with. I'd start taping your exhaustion tests just in case you're able to do 100 pushups.
Hope you're all able to do them otherwise one or two people will have some traveling money going their way.

Week 4, Day 3 - I'm struggling
Now I have to do my exhaustion test tonight since I want to start my Week 5 program tomorrow...in Mexico. Not sure if this is going to work out. Ugh.
One more thing - my friend (and Helen's) has a website FitFiend.com. I was talking to him about our blog, and he exlaimed,"Why didn't you blog on my website??!!!!!" I'm like, ummmmm, didn't realize I could do that. So I think he wants to try to get this blog on his site.

another exhaustion test
anyways, i got up to 80....no problem....i stopped to catch my breath and then continued...i mean struggled to eek out 20 more. i did 5 more, then 3, 2, 3, 3, 2, 1, 1.....
my goal this week is to do 100 more on friday and possibly on sunday, then do my test for you guys sometime next week.
keep it going boys and girls!
Man down!
I finished Week 6 a couple of days ago and really overdid it. Week 5 and 6 are killers, just don't overdo it, remember you can redo the weeks, learn from me. I really wanted the to reach the goals of the last day and in the process pulled something on my back below my right shoulder. Nothing horrible but I'm going to have to take a few days off to recover. Good thing we have a few more weeks. I'm going to repeat Week 6 at least two more times before I can get to 100.
Week 6:
Day 2: 30-30-25-25-25-25-22-22-max 44=248
Day 3: 27-27-23-23-23-23-20-20-max 45=231
"Ohh, it's the deep burn. Oh, it's so deep. Oh, I can barely lift my right arm 'cause I did so many. I don't know if you heard me counting. I did over a thousand." – Ron Burgundy
Week 6:
Day 2: 30-30-25-25-25-25-22-22-max 44=248
Day 3: 27-27-23-23-23-23-20-20-max 45=231
"Ohh, it's the deep burn. Oh, it's so deep. Oh, I can barely lift my right arm 'cause I did so many. I don't know if you heard me counting. I did over a thousand." – Ron Burgundy
Update
What are the exact rules when it comes to finally doing the 100 push ups? Can we pause in the middle of it? And how do you define "pause"? I'm thinking it's in the "up" position of the push-up where hands/arms are extended, not bent.

Tynee Terror's Week 3, Day 2
27-21-21-18-42
Week 5 and Week 6 start
So I have it written down somewhere at home but I got through Week 5 fine, each time hitting a max of about 60-65 at the end of everyday. Then took a few days off and tried the exhaustion test for Week 6. Man, I went from 80 last week to only 63 this week and I was really struggling. Just like I discovered before, I shouldn't take too long a break in between, so back on track... for now.
Either way, I made enough to move on to the third column for Week 6 and am finding out this is really getting tough. Just yesterday I had to do 56-45-42-40 then hit a max of only 34! Dang, that's a low max! After looking back I realized I did do quite a few pushups total: 214. So I shouldn't feel too bad, considering in Week 1 Day 1 I had only done a total of 61 and THAT was tough then.
So back to Week 6, scared of day 2. I'm supposed to do 30-30-25-25-25-25-22-22 plus max out afterward! Dang. Wish me luck. I'm sure I'm going to go through Week 6 again. Good thing we have a month left.

wk 4/day 2
27-21-21-18-75
...so this brings me to football practice...the coaches decided i was too short to play WR, but felt my speed and agility would be perfect for a RB. i've never played or had an interest to play the RB position but apparently they liked it and feel i'd be really good at it.
anyways, during practice i got hit on my right thigh and now i'm in serious pain....OUCH!!! in any case, i should be fine by next week. enjoy.
week 3, day 3 (finally!)

Week 4 end and new max
Been busy with work and playing pretend single dad as Nico's mom spent last Saturday with her lady friends at a bachelorette day/night out. So I was carrying around a 17lb. baby boy, who fighting the irritations of excema (or exzcema, depending on who's checking) for most of Saturday. I might have missed my pushups but my arms were getting a workout. But I "digest." Latest stats:
End of Week 4: 30-22-22-20, then maxed the 5th set at 64
Before the start of Week 5, another exhaustion test and I hit 80! Woo-friggin'-hoo!
I guess I'm back on track... for now. I'm starting Week 5 off schedule (or sheh-deeool as my peeps in England pronounce it) but at least I'm starting it much stronger than last week. I'll try to get a run in tomorrow. For now it's time to relax and catch Conan O'Brien.

Week 4 Day 2 and heads up
So, I'm finally getting my max back up but the program's just getting tougher. Just a heads up, Weeks 5 and 6 have more sets than we are used to. For those following the program, everyday we have 5 sets to do, 4 prescribed and the last one we max out on. The last two days of Weeks 5 and 6 have 8 and 9 sets respectively. YIKES! Here are my stats for Week 4 Day 2:
27-21-21-18 5th set maxed at 61
Going to try to get a run in today and do some extra pushups, got to get to 100! Holla back y'all.

It's getting harder (That's what she said)
Okay so Week 3 ended a few days ago for me and just started Week 4 yesterday. Man, my max at the end of Day 1 of Week 4 dropped dramatically, the amount of reps for each set has even dropped a bit. I had a day of rest yesterday and will be doing day 2 tonight for this week, I'm crossing my fingers that my max will go back up. Maybe it was that stupid rest for the weekend. That week I had to play catch up, I did a lot more going every day....(thinking) I'm doing pushups everyday-ish. Here are the stats:
Week 3 Day 3: 30-22-22-20, 5th set max 64. Then, went for a 6 mile run, it took about an hour and five mins, minus a few because of traffic lights.
Week 4 Day 1: 27-20-20-17, 5th set max 50.

need a little more work
80 good form pushups, w/ a rest or two in between
i felt more tired today then yesterday for some reason. anyways, i still got a lot of work to do.
very humbling.
2nd Week Exhaustion Test
I was able to do only 50 solid ones. I started off fast just to get a lot out of the way. I definitely couldn't do anymore and I already started struggling at 40. But I'm happy with my progress. I expect by the next exhaustion test I'll hit 70.

week 2, days 2 & 3
day 3: 15, 15, 12, 12, 45
so i've completed my first week of interval training, waking up early and heading to the track for some hi/lo-intensity running, doing my pushups on the days in between. following in jaybroni's footsteps, i decided to do day 3's pushups super slow, with a hard stop at the top of each rep. man that made a big difference in my max (could also be the lack of sleep and the alcohol consumed merely hours earlier!), but i think he's right in that it'll help out during the exhaustion test. good call, jaybroni!
as far as progress goes, i'd been steadily increasing my max with each day (aside from the last day when i did the slow pushups), and i'm already noticing a difference in my upper body, as my a-cups are filling out quite nicely thank you very much. i got my basketball playoffs starting tomorrow, so we'll see if all this training pays dividends on the court as well :-)

Week 3 Day 1,2
Long time no post. I've been slammed at work and just have enough energy to do my pushups and put in a run. After that, I have to spend time with my little 3-month-old. He's growing too fast and I'd hate to miss any of it. Here are my stats for Week 3 so far, still on the third column:
Week 3 Day 1: 25-17-17-15, 5th set max 56
Week 3 Day 2: 27-19-19-15, 5th set max 58
My max isn't going up as quickly as Weeks 1-2 but the first four sets are getting much more intense.
Joel, where you at? We voted you in and you're just lurking. I remember you said you'll wait until after basketball season to end. You have three seasons a year. Let's see Ron's training in football twice a week, Milhouse and Luxelogic are both training for 10ks, Kat's always training. I put in a run about twice a week and carry around a 16.6lb baby for about 2-3 hours total a day. C'mon, just about 10-15 minutes a day for three days a week. I've seen them guns and know you can do it. (Everyone) JOEL...JOEL...JOEL...JOEL!
Hope you find this motivating, plus this blog could use your wit. Even if it's at your own pace, as long as you're progressing, get in this... c'mon all the cool kids are doing it. "I learned it by watching you!" Or maybe this video (not a Rick Roll) of Jack Lalanne doing pushups at the age of 60 can get you going.

Final Test Weeks
We'll set the dates for the last two weeks of August.
What does that mean?
It means from Aug 17 - Aug 30 11:59 PST you HAVE to submit a video through the Upload video button when creating a new post or youtube.
What if I don't have a video submitted between those dates?
You will lose the $100 dollars which will be split among those that have completed the 100 pushups.
What should be in the video?
a front or side view of you preferably on the same level from the ground as you are. You'll also need a third party to say each push-up out loud. The video must be continuous if at any point it cuts to another scene, you lose.
What if I don't have a camera?
Borrow from someone. No excuses. Either you have a video or not.
We're still waiting on fliptree to post his stuff. He's a bit shy so why don't we trash talk... i mean cheer him on!!!

time to tan and swim...
I just can't do it... or can I?
I wanted to do it before I left so that I look more like Mario Lopez, only the hottest guy alive since . I think these Tahitians know what "hot stuff" really looks like when it's written across my shirt.
Friday I'm shooting for a max of 35.

Unleashing the Pawaah
Today was Day 2 of the challenge. I started off with my usual 20 minutes cardio, except I stepped up the level a few notches. It felt GOOD. Then I stretched and did my push-ups. 12-12-10-10-22. I have no idea if that's good or bad, but I do know that my arms felt dead after that. When I got to the final set of seeing the max I could do, I tried what the 100 push-ups guy suggests for the final test: "Take your time, don't rush and focus on performing ten push ups at a time. Breaking the magic hundred into smaller chunks will make the goal more achievable and give you more chance of success." Um, that totally did NOT work for me. I felt discouraged counting back to 1, and it slowed me down. What's that say about me?
After the push-ups, I did a full body workout since I can't workout tomorrow - lats, shoulders, abs, thighs, glutes, biceps, triceps, back, calves (I may not be able to get out of bed tomorrow and especially on Friday.)...I hope my strength training won't make me look like Ms. Olympia. Imagining Arnold Schwarzenegger saying "UNLEEASH THE PAWAAAH!!" now not only makes me laugh but also sorta scares me.* HA!
*The Gov. is speaking at my conference in October, and the theme of the conference is "Unleash the Power. So my colleagues and I keep imagining him saying that."

week 2, day 1
12, 12, 9, 9, 60.
btw, i like how this blog/group grew from just a pushups-challenge crew to an overall fitness crew. sweet.
Week 2, Day 1
Also did some interval running. Jogged about 2 mins then ran really fast (or fast jog) for 1 min.. Did that for a total of 3 mins. Then did ab crunches.
Now i just finished eating tempura shrimp. I feel healthy already.

tynee terror is here!
So I'm home sick with a bad stomach virus, but somehow I got a boatload of motivation and energy in the past two hours. Took advantage of it and did my initial test and day one of the challenge.
Intitial Test - 30
Day 1 - 10-10-8-6-21
Not bad for a 5' 0.75", 10# pound woman, eh? ;op If I actually do the 100 pushups, I'm going to treat myself to all the ramen in the world. Mmm mm goood. Good luck to everyone who's in on the bet!
Week 2 end and new max
Okay so these last few days have been tough. I've messed with my rhythm last week by starting on a Tuesday, then missed a couple of days and played catch-up over the weekend to get back on track. So I've been doing pushups consecutively since Friday and will do more tonight. That all said. Week 2 down at: 15-15-12-12-54. Then yesterday I did the test to see where I'd start for week 3, I got up to 60 with a couple of breaks but, again, without my knees touching the ground. Dang this is getting harder... "that's what she said." Not doing as much as Senor Roncarlo but shit, I've made some strides from my initial test (27) before Week 1.
P.S. Where's my pic on my posts? I already covered my face so no one would be offended, dang, my grill that ugly too? <-- This question is not a poll but it can be. Is The Rhymenocerous' grill ugly? Yes or no.

End of Week 1
Just got home from working out: ran for 2.5 miles, went on the stairclimber, did some free weights. I know it's supposed to be "rest day" but to me, that means resting from doing push-ups, not from running and lifting weights, as long as I'm working on different muscle groups. Is that so wrong? I guess this week was different cause I only worked one day this week so I was able to use my free time to run and hit the gym. Once I start working my regular schedule, I may be only able to work out a few times(?). But I will be sure to make time for my long runs once a week.
I know some of you are training for a 10k in August. There is another 10k in September at Balboa Park for the AIDS Walk/Run in case anyone is interested. I plan on training for that one.
Are we still looking at August 31 as the final date? The only problem I have is that I will be on an airplane the entire day. I won't get into San Diego until 10 pm. Does anyone have a problem with me doing the push-ups the next day? Any suggestions?
Week 2 Day 2
Okay, like I said, haven't put in a run in a while and just finally recovered from being sore from that last run. So no running yet, might put one in tomorrow. But I didn't do too bad considering it's the 4th of July. Did the prescribed four sets then maxed out on the fifth set at 56, this time my arms were shaking, I think I'm going to deduct one and say I did 55. That last one was janky.

Week 1, Day 2 and New Participant
My pecs and arms have gotten a tiny bit stiffer and this is before my workout. I'll have to do more abs and back to round out my upper half.
In other news, I shaved my head again to increase the air flow on the way down and up. Less drag, more reps.
Also, we have another push-upper but this time it's a non-participant which means he's it in it for the motivation but not in it to win any money unless he changes his mind within the next week.
'Til then, give it up for fliptreej!

How to lose belly fat
Read "How to Lose Belly Fat"
wk 1/day 2
12-12-10-10-56 = 100.
i know my money is safe :D
plus 1.36 miles in slippers....things i do to continue my streak. ah...time to have a beer.
Motivated!
We have to give it up to Jaybroni for putting up this bet and site. I'm super motivated (see how long this will last). Besides the pushups, reading about everyone's running made me put the running shoes back on yesterday. I haven't put in a good jog/run in over a month but it felt great. To give back, I'm also going to log my run distance and time, hope this helps Milhouse and Luxelogic with their training to 10k. Sounds fun by the way. If I didn't have the little time I do to spend with my 3-month-old I would train for one too. So for now, thank you Jaybroni and all for keeping this old man going.
Week 2 Day 1:
Started with the third column. So 12-12-9-7, then maxed out at 54. I actually did 31 straight, then did two 10 second rest without my knees dropping until I got to 54. Next, I went for a 3.2 mile jog (no not a run) around the neighborhood in about 34 mins.
Keep on keepin' on y'all. Maybe the next bet should be us all meeting at a marathon or an Iron Man and who ever finishes first between us gets the cash. Wait, a silly fun one, remember those old silly Presidential Fitness Tests in school? Let's find one of those and max out on all of them in one day with a point system. Okay, I'm just going on too many tangents and I'm getting tired just thinking about the training. Nap time.
P.S. I'm sure you know I'm joking about the Iron Man, a co-worker of mine said her friend trained almost 40 hours a week for I think a year to prepare for his, CA-RAZAY!

Week 1, Day 1
I think next time I'll reverse my workout by doing push-ups first then running afterwards.
Now I is tired and sleepy. Tomorrow I'm going to do some abs workouts to balance my growing pectorals.

Two More Have Joined
*golf claps*
At the moment this is the way I see the bet breakdown:
1 winner: $500
2 winners: $200 each
3 winners: $100 each
4 winners: $50 each
5 winners: $20 each
6 winners: PUSH
As you can see, the more winners we have, the less money you'll receive. It's certainly not a huge financial incentive but at least you can say you did 100 push-ups. Maybe in the future we can change it around and increase the stakes if this works out.
On that note if you want to invite more of your friend, feel free. That just adds to the pot.
I think we'll keep this open for one more week. Send this link out to your friends that might want to participate but only send it to those who you can account for when it comes time to pay up, if necessary.
So in terms of posts, feel free to say what you want. Say the truth or bluff. I'm sure many of you are doing it already. The most important post is the one with your video.
Also, those six of you who are in this blog are officially entered into this contest. There's no turning back. You MUST complete the bet or forfeit your $100. No bailing half way through. So please don't flake with the money. It's part of what drives us to hit 100 push-ups.
Any questions? complaints?
What am I getting myself into?

What's a push-up?
Speaking of the number 21, We'll have two more participants joining our blog. I think that's great! I feel that we should still start Monday June 30th, but leave it open for a few weeks for anyone else that might want to join.
As for the final test date, we'll keep that open as well. It should be at least 6 six weeks from June 30th but I think instead of having a week to do your test. Just make sure you record it if you can't do it live via webcam or in front of another participant and post it up on the web for the entire world to see.
If you don't post a video or have someone vouch for you within the week or the week after, then you split your $100 to the ones that were successful.
How does that sound?
One more issue I wanted to bring up...
A lot of you peeps have been asking me how we'll define a push-up. Since we can't really see if your chest is touching a golf ball on video, we can only rely on your arms and elbows. Use this image as a guideline on how low you should go. It doesn't have to be exact but you should be very close to parallel.
Remember Monday is the start date for us! Post your results and measurements for a before and after comparison if you want. And if you want to put a side profile of your body, that's cool too, but chest only please.
(inhale)YOINKS....... and away.
I'm on top!
I just wanted to see my rad Rey Mysterio mask on the top post. Also, now knowing I can "rest" (stay in pushup position and keep only my feet and hands touching the ground) without literally going continuous, I was able to hit 40 after going through the first four levels. It was still a challenge but it was nice to give this old man a breather. Week 1 down... and I quit. PSHYCH!

Tough Six Weeks
I think I'll restart the first week again for the second time so that I'll have more confidence with myself. I really don't know why I feel weaker today. Maybe I should probably stop eating McDonalds.
As for the final test date, I know there's probably not a lot of time to discuss it by Monday so since it's not a huge deal to come up with one now I'll push the deadline to set a date till the end of next week. So please try and agree to a date. The last thing I want is for one of us to drop out because they know they can't do it because they're busy practicing football or going to "meetings" or always going to NYC.
This is a team effort and there's no M-E in TEAM.
Proposal for Final Test
Webcam would be ideal but since I might be in New Zealand I'm not sure if I'll have access to internet. I might have to do my push-ups at an internet cafe in front of the Maori warriors doing the Haka.
Let's figure this out before the weekend since most of you might not check anyways.
Week 1 Day 2
Still on the third column. I followed the first four levels of day two with no problem and this time was able to add to my original max of 27 and got to 31 consecutive good-form pushups. Nothing amazing but building slowly and the growth is very encouraging.

Nice Rick Roll Bitch!
This was too good to be true. What exactly could he put as the... D'OH! There goes my bandwidth!
Nice way to mix it up. I'm just glad it wasn't that one guy singing
Taking Rests In Between
this was taken from the website:
"Take your time, don't rush and focus on performing ten push ups at a time. Breaking the magic hundred into smaller chunks will make the goal more achievable and give you more chance of success. Maintain good form and don't hold your breath. It sounds simple, but just take it one push up at a time until you reach one hundred! If you start to feel shaky, take a few deep breaths and regain your composure before starting again. Good luck - I know you can do it!!"
what are you're thoughts? joe says continuous pushups.
Well.. Ron raises a good point. I don't want anyone to NOT make a hundred because they're a pu**y and need rests in between. haha j/k
seriously.. i'm going with the majority if you guys feel you need to take short breaks to reach your goal of 100 as long as the knees don't touch the ground you can stay up as long as you want.
the author of this blog wants you to reach a hundred so he'll tell you to just take your time. For me, I want you guys to reach it too... but at the same time i realy don't cause i don't have a steady job and I need the money. =)
So whatever we decide let's do it before monday.
96... 97...
good luck y'all. although, i think we'll be hitting 100 pushups by week 2. perhaps we should add dunking a basketball to this challenge. what do you think?
Week 1 Day 1 (actually yesterday)
Just wanted to keep you kids updated. I've already put this on my own site but since it's not officially launched (hang-ging golden brown) until the site's programming's complete, I'll give you my results here as well.
"Started with the third column, followed the first four levels with no problem and got to 27 good-form pushups on the fifth level."
Yeah, kiddies, that's 27... and it friggin' hurt. Still sore from it and I'm scared I can't quadruple it on the last day. But I "digest", I will keep fighting... until I can't.
Spoiler alert: You two are going down faster than a two-dollar wh•re! I don't have a Napoleon complex, I just happened to be a bit short and really like to inflate my ego with lame accomplishments I have to express out loud, repeatedly. Oh and here's a video of me practicing, here and here.
Peace off y'all. 'Nocerous OUT!

Started First Exercise
I did the last column and did 18 for my max reps. Maybe Thursday will be better.
I think on Sunday we should all take pictures of our pecs and arms as a before and after shot. Let's all post them at the end (or before the event starts if you guys want) to see how much of a difference this exercise made for us.
Jeff, I'll just use the pics I took from prague. Don't worry.. I got a lot of them from all different angles including super-macro shots of Ron's nipples.
Goal To 100 Push-ups
http://hundredpushups.com/index.html
The bet is $100. If the participant successfully does 100 push-ups in one attempt, they do NOT pay $100. But if they fail either by giving up or having the knees touch the ground (up for discussion), then they lose the $100 which is then evenly divided among the participants that have completed the 100 pushups.
If none of the participants do 100 pushups, we'll call it a push and everyone gets their money back.
Since we're all in different parts of the world we have to rely on web-cams or videos. If a camera is used to record the event it must be continuous, some how prove that it's the date of the trial, and preferably have someone count out loud.
We'll use this blog to track our progress and to do a little trash talking. Although I want everyone to do good and hope that we can all benefit from this exercise. Maybe the next bet will be 200 or 500. I know none of you can do that cause you're all slobs. But that's not the point.
The point is we must work to push each other in order to reach our goals. I hope at the end we all reach 100. And to make it interesting we can even place a side bed to see how puts in the most pushups AFTER 100. It could be as little as $5 or $20. Whatever is a good motivator. But let's settle this before Monday, June 30th.
In using this blog, we should track which column you did and how many max pushups you did to end the workout. Also describe how you felt before and after each day and even each week as you increase your strength.
I also encourage you guys to take pictures of your nipples to see how much harder they get. All this is for fun so go wild with those pix!
So good luck and let's figure out our final test date!
Jay
